Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire

Beautiful DisasterThe new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate percentage of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance between her and the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend America, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the charming college co-ed. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his charms, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’ apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

I started reading Beautiful Disaster because I kept seeing it everywhere. It had great reviews and many of those reviews were from people I trust. Beautiful Disaster didn’t disappoint. It was fast paced and entertaining. I was wondering why the title, and a few pages in I realized why. Abby and Travis were, excuse my lack of originality, a DISASTER! Even though these 2 were fighting every five minutes I wanted them to end up together.

The writing was good as well. McGuire knows what readers want and she delivers. Some of the situations were a little far-fetched but this a book, so it really doesn’t matter. I did have a problem with Abby though, she got on my nerves more than once. She took a few wrong turns that would have been easily avoided but I still love her. We had a love-dislike relationship. In the other hand we have Travis crazy/sexy Maddox! All I have to say is: ohmygawd. He was crazy but oh, so lovable.

I think more people than not will love this book. I loved it and so far it’s one of my favorite reads of the year.
