Terrible Thursday #1: The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

Terrible Thursday is a weekly meme hosted and created by bookittyblog. Here I will feature one book that had a Terrible day. Either because it had a bunch of bad reviews and I loved it or everybody else loved it and I did not.

Pages read: 108 of 452 (Kindle)

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #1)
Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.

It can.

She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.

There is.

She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.

She's wrong.

For this week’s Terrible Thursday I’m picking The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer. So a few months ago when Mara got published reviewers were going crazy about it. I mean they were going wild. So I had to give it a try and unfortunately I didn’t like it. I guess it was a combination of all that hype and me wanting something extraordinary out of the book. To me Mara Dyer wasn’t all that good. I tried so hard to like it but I couldn't even finish it.

So what did you guys think of The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer? Did you guys enjoy it? Should I go back and give it another shot?

  1. I absolutely loved The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer. When I got my copy in the mail I immediately starting reading and didn't want to stop. I loved how the whole story had a cryptic feel to it. I mean page one definitely got me curious and everything that was happening to Mara was just wow. She goes through something very traumatic and can't remember. Starts seeing her dead friends everywhere. Can kill anything if she thinks about it. Oh and then you got that hottie named Noah who was a delightful bonus with his sarcasm and swoon worthiness. I seriously can't wait til the next book comes out and I definitely recommend giving Mara Dyer another try.
