Twisted Perfection by Abbi Glines

Life outside of her house was a new experience for Della Sloane. The dark secrets of her past weren’t something she ever intended to share with anyone. They would never understand. No one would ever get close enough to find out. There was always a chance she’d go crazy sooner than they expected…

Woods Kerrington had never been one to be attracted to fragile females. They seemed like too much work. He wasn’t in it for the work just the pleasure. A night full of naughty fun had been exactly what was on his mind when he’d laid eyes on the hot little number that didn’t know how to pump gas and needed some help.

What he didn’t know was she was as fragile as they came.

The carefree girl who spoke her mind and didn’t care what the world thought of her was more breakable than he could ever imagine…

I know the majority of readers will absolutely adore Twisted Perfection. Sadly I didn't. This is my review and this is my personal opinion.

Let me start by saying that I love Abbi. I love most of her books. I remember reading her first book, Breathe and falling in love with her writing. But lately I haven't been clicking with her books.

Twisted Perfection's plot (the little bit of it that was in the book) was pretty interesting maybe a bit predictable but still good. Because of this I could not put the book down. The plot was very Abbi, which is fast paced and engaging. One of the things I didn't like about this book was the ending. Not because of the cliffhanger but because I thought Woods and Della only needed one book. I'm not a fan of unnecessary drama and that's how I felt about most of Della's and Wood's problems. To me giving them a sequel feels unnecessary. I'll explain you why.

I wasn't a fan of Never Too Far (book 2 in the Too Far series). The only thing I liked about it was Woods. Then in Twisted Perfection the Woods I loved and adored is nowhere to be found. We got a replica of Rush. Which made Woods' character forgettable. I really didn't connect with him. I didn't feel any sympathy towards him. I mean in what year are we that you have to marry people because your dad wants to be the king of whatever? Yeah, I know that happens in some places but it didn't work here. The Woods in the other books didn't look like the kind of person that would do what daddy wanted him to do.

And then we got Della. Sweet, innocent Della. Until she decides to not be so innocent anymore and act the total oposite from that. Della was an unpredictable and confusing character. Her backstory was heartbreaking. You would expect her to behave certain way because of that. She doesn't even know how to put gas in a car for crying out loud! I sympathized with her until she had the one night stand with Rush Woods. It was so out of character. And I don't know why, but, I still  found it surprising when she went from sitting on Grant's lap (she just met the guy BTW) to having sex with Woods. This all happened at the same party. Her character didn't get any better after that.

There was a lot of eye rolling while reading this book. Most of those happened while reading the sex scenes. Listened, I enjoy sex in books. Sometimes sex gives the book spice. But God, it didn't work here. I've read whatever you can think of and I've never felt so uncomfortable as I did while reading the sex scenes in Twisted Perfection. There were some words that weren't sexy at all and made the scene read almost like a porn. Maybe it's just me who find this kind of scenes cringeworthy. I don't know. Most of the reviewers on Goodreads think that the sexy times between Della and Woods were hot. But I could have done without the sex in Twisted Perfection.

To me this book felt rushed and forced. Pretty much like book 2 in the Too Far series. Does this mean I'm not going to read Abbi's other books? No. I will avoid the Too Far and Twisted Perfection series but I will still buy her other books with the hopes that she goes back to writing what she writes best: sweet, awesome romance. Characters that you wish were real because they were that amazing. Hot sexy scenes that didn't need to be describe in a million words to let you know what was going on but still made you sigh. Bad boys that were hot and a gentlemen at the same time. Strong yet delicate heroines. That's what I loved about Abbi's books.

  3. I like this book more than Fallen Too Far and honestly, Woods was my favorite character in Fallen Too Far so that I anticipated his story a lot. But after reading Twisted Perfection, I was kinda disappointed by his character there. And yes, I also felt like reading a porn when I read Twisted Perfection. If only Abbi Glines gave more emotional connection between Woods and Della..
