Tangled by Erica O'Rourke Dream Cast

Dream Cast

I think my favorite in this cast is Travis Van Winkle aka Colin! What you guys think??

Tangled (Torn Trilogy #2) by Erica O'Rourke

A month ago, Mo Fitzgerald risked her life to stop an ancient prophecy and avenge her best friend's murder. Now, she only wants to keep her loved ones safe. But the magic—and the Chicago Mob—have other plans.

Mysterious, green-eyed Luc is back, asking for help—and a second chance. Colin, her strongest protector, is hiding a shocking secret. And inside Constance, the magic is about to go terribly wrong. Tangled in a web of love and betrayal, Mo must choose between the life she's dreamed of and the one she's destined for.

FINALLY! A book with a freaking love triangle that’s actually a love triangle. Gah! I’m just so excited that this book was so different. Often I find myself picking out whom the main character will end up with. I think if the heroine has some kind of feeling for two male characters the reader should feel the same way. It seems pointless if the reader knows whom she’ll pick at the end. Why add a guy the heroine or the reader won’t even consider and complicate the plot? Fortunately, Tangled is nothing like any other books I've ever read.

Here we have two strong male characters. Both gorgeous, with qualities all readers love (or at least me). Mo has no idea who she will choose and I’m as lost as she is. In Torn the first book in the series I was Team Colin. Why? I really don’t know. He’s just amazing and the way he treats Mo is so gentle. Then for part of Tangled I was Team Luc. Now I’m Team Coluc. Get it? I can’t choose!

I’m going to try to review the plot without any spoilers. I liked that it was fast paced. I do feel bad for Mo because she gets out of a mess to get stock in another. Regardless the plot moves fast and it makes sense. I love how she’s almost living two separate lives without people in her “normal” live knowing. You guys need to read this series! It would be a crime to miss out on the steamy love triangle and an amazing read.

To Author:

Dear Erica,

First of all, you are amazing! Second, I have a problem and I think I have the solution. So, just hear me out. K?  Mo shouldn't have to choose at the end between Colin and Luc. You are the creator of this awesome world and you can make things easy for her. Here’s how I think you should solve the problem:

Fuse Colin and Luc together! C’mon you can make that happen. Blame it on the magic or something.

You are welcome,

Me!

P.S. Make sure this creature has Colin’s guns!

Revealing Eden by Victoria Foyt

Revealing Eden Eden Newman must mate before her 18th birthday in six months or she'll be left outside to die in a burning world. But who will pick up her mate-option when she's cursed with white skin and a tragically low mate-rate of 15%? In a post-apocalyptic, totalitarian, underground world where class and beauty are defined by resistance to an overheated environment, Eden's coloring brands her as a member of the lowest class, a weak and ugly Pearl. If only she can mate with a dark-skinned Coal from the ruling class, she'll be safe. Just maybe one Coal sees the Real Eden and will be her salvation her co-worker Jamal has begun secretly dating her. But when Eden unwittingly compromises her father's secret biological experiment, she finds herself in the eye of a storm and thrown into the last area of rainforest, a strange and dangerous land. Eden must fight to save her father, who may be humanity's last hope, while standing up to a powerful beast-man she believes is her enemy, despite her overwhelming attraction. Eden must change to survive but only if she can redefine her ideas of beauty and of love, along with a little help from her "adopted aunt" Emily Dickinson.

How can I describe how I feel about Revealing Eden? One thing I’m sure of is that I blame books like this one for putting me on a “reading slump”. How can I go from reading a beautifully written book like Revealing Eden to an unknown regular book? I’m not going to lie when I first started reading R.E. I was a little confused. Just like any amazing book I had to get my brain in sync with the writing and when I did I was blown away.

I love how twisted and original the plot was. The characters were amazing too. Eden was my favorite because I got to experience how much she grew trough out the book. Overall Revealing Eden is a fantastic and full of swoony romance read. I was literally trying to read slower so it wouldn't end.

Stolen Away by Alyxandra Harvey

Stolen AwayFor seventeen years, Eloise Hart had no idea the world of Faery even existed. Now she has been abducted and trapped in the Rath of Lord Strahan, King of Faery. Strahan was only meant to rule for seven years, as Faery tradition dictates, and then give up his crown to another. But he won't comply, and now chaos threatens both worlds.
The only one who can break his stranglehold on the Faery court is his wife. . . Eloise's aunt Antonia. Using Eloise to lure Antonia, Strahan captures his wife, desperate to end the only threat to his reign. Now Eloise must become the rescuer. Together with her best friends Jo and Devin, she must forge alliances with other Fae, including a gorgeous protector named Lucas, and Strahan's mysterious son, Eldric-who may or may not betray them.

If you read the summary you know that Lord Strahan, King of Faery kidnapped Eloise. Considering that and how serious it should be, Stolen Away is the total opposite. It had this satirical feeling to it that made it a fun read. I think that's why I liked it better than other Faery books. Don't get me wrong, Stolen Away had some deep moments but like I said the author has this way of making the situation feel light with funny dialogue.

I also loved the way Stolen Away was written. The narrative alternates between Eloise and Jo. They were like yin and yang. Eloise is mellow, serious and Jo is a drama queen and more fun. They compliment each other. If you like steamy romance you won’t be disappointed. Eloise and Jo each have a love interest. I did feel more connected to Jo’s love story with “mysterious” guy because it was intense and Jo is a bit crazy so it makes it more entertaining.

Overall Stolen Away is a fun read and you'll never be bored while reading it!

Tempest by Julie Cross

Tempest (Tempest #1)The year is 2009. Nineteen-year-old Jackson Meyer is a normal guy… he’s in college, has a girlfriend… and he can travel back through time. But it’s not like the movies – nothing changes in the present after his jumps, there’s no space-time continuum issues or broken flux capacitors – it’s just harmless fun.

That is… until the day strangers burst in on Jackson and his girlfriend, Holly, and during a struggle with Jackson, Holly is fatally shot. In his panic, Jackson jumps back two years to 2007, but this is not like his previous time jumps. Now he’s stuck in 2007 and can’t get back to the future.

Desperate to somehow return to 2009 to save Holly but unable to return to his rightful year, Jackson settles into 2007 and learns what he can about his abilities.

But it’s not long before the people who shot Holly in 2009 come looking for Jackson in the past, and these “Enemies of Time” will stop at nothing to recruit this powerful young time-traveler. Recruit… or kill him.

Piecing together the clues about his father, the Enemies of Time, and himself, Jackson must decide how far he’s willing to go to save Holly… and possibly the entire world.

I very much enjoyed Tempest. It reminds me of the movie The Butterfly Effect which I also loved. One thing I know romance readers  won’t like too much is that Tempest is more for "guys". There’s a lot of action and not so much romance. I take that back. There's romance but it takes a back seat. The plot focus more on Jackson's ability to time travel which is fascinating by the way.

I loved the main character, Jackson. I cared about him; his personality and charisma kept me entertain. The relationship between him and Holly seem realistic. They fought and got mad at each other but their chemistry was right on point. Another character I enjoyed was Adam. He was so… geeky and I loved it.

Audiobook Review:

The guy who narrates Tempest is a genius! I loved his voice and the way he changed his voice for every character. Because of voices like his I love listening to audiobooks.

Unraveling Isobel by Eileen Cook

Unraveling IsobelIsobel's life is falling apart. Her mom just married some guy she met on the internet only three months before, and is moving them to his sprawling, gothic mansion off the coast of nowhere. Goodbye, best friend. Goodbye, social life. Hello, icky new stepfather, crunchy granola town, and unbelievably good-looking, officially off-limits stepbrother.

But on her first night in her new home, Isobel starts to fear that it isn't only her life that's unraveling-her sanity might be giving way too. Because either Isobel is losing her mind, just like her artist father did before her, or she's seeing ghosts. Either way, Isobel's fast on her way to being the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons.

When you get choked up due to laughter in the first few pages, you know you have a great book in your hands. The plot was great and the dialogue was even better and this book was a lot creepier than what I thought.

I personally think that we need more characters like Isobel in young adult books. She was smart and stubborn. You know, that kind of character that has a snarky retort to everything. I enjoyed every single second of her in this book!

Because I love you guys I will include in this review a guide to read Unraveling Isobel. If you follow these tips you will surely avoid embarrassment and nightmares. Well I’m not sure about nightmares. O_O

- Do not consume any kind of: liquids or foods while reading this book. I assure you that you’ll damage your copy due to that kind of laughter that doesn’t allow you to keep anything in your mouth. Including saliva.

- Avoid reading this book in public or in the library. Unless you don’t care what people think of you.

- Be prepare for an all-nighter. You won’t want to put this book down.
- Turn all your lights on while reading this book.
I want to include also some of my favorites quotes in the book:

“His name is Richard, which is really just a fancy version of Dick. I don’t think anyone should be in a relationship with a Dick.”

“My eyebrows went up. “Morrigan? You gave your house a name?” I bet Richard was the kind of guy who names everything, including his car, his favorite golf club, his dick. Dick’s dick. I shuddered. That was the kind of image that could leave some serious emotional scars.”

Isn’t she charming? And this is just the beginning of the book. Imagine the rest. Here's a link to the first chapter of Unraveling Isobel. Enjoy!

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

The Statistical Probability of Love at First SightWho would have guessed that four minutes could change everything?

Today should be one of the worst days of seventeen-year-old Hadley Sullivan's life. She's stuck at JFK, late to her father's second wedding, which is taking place in London and involves a soon to be step-mother that Hadley's never even met. Then she meets the perfect boy in the airport's cramped waiting area. His name is Oliver, he's British, and he's in seat 18C. Hadley's in 18A.

Twists of fate and quirks of timing play out in this thoughtful novel about family connections, second chances and first loves. Set over a 24-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver's story will make you believe that true love finds you when you're least expecting it.

Do you believe in love at first sight? Or maybe that you can fall in love with someone even if you met him or her a week ago? I sure do! The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight explores this topic. Can it really happen? Is it love? How do you know if it’s real? How can one measure love? I think love is love, NO matter what. Huh, I kind of went a bit off topic here.

Anyway, this book is more about destiny than anything else. It was mind blowing to learn that 4 minutes can change everything! We don’t realize that sometimes we don’t have control over what’s going to happen next. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight is a cute love story and fast paced read. You should stop what you are doing now, find a copy and read it NOW!

Dream Cast

Lightbringer by K.D. McEntire

LightbringerThe Never is a place of greys, a world a breath beyond our own, layered just past the memories of yesterday and the fleeting present moment. It is here, in this dismal limbo, that ghosts such as Piotr, Lily, and Elle must sort out an existence, both protecting the children called Lost and themselves from the walking darkness that is the army of rotting Walkers.

Caught between her duty to her calling as the Lightbringer and her concern for her new ghostly friends, Wendy must walk the line between the two worlds, aiding Piotr in his fight against the Walkers as well as searching out the wandering soul of the one who means the most to her. Time, however, is running out and in the end... who will she choose?

What a fantastic read! Everything about Lightbringer is enthralling. Wendy can see dead people. How fascinating is that? She even sees her dead cat. I particularly loved when she described her cat being friendlier now than when he was alive. I loved her character and how she wouldn’t give up searching for her mom. I LOVED Piotr and his world.

I have to say that what caught my eye was the cover. I think it’s a perfect representation of the book. It has this creepy and eerie feeling to it. The concept is very original and K.D. McEntire’s writing is fresh and very young adult friendly. Everything about Lightbringer was dark and amazing! This book has it all.

We've Finally Moved Giveaway!

So, I’ve finally moved my blog to blogger!!! Let me tell you that I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I decided to do the switch. I thought it was going to be easy and quick. I’m having a Déjà vu right now guys! That’s what I thought when I decided to have my own book review site. I thought it was going to be easy peasy . Well it turned out to be the second hardest thing I ever did. The first thing on my “It looks easy but the laughs on you” list is giving birth to my daughter.

Yes, I just compared running a blog with child birth. I remember that night 5 years ago. I cried, screamed and I wanted to punch someone, anyone really. Those are the same feelings I have sometimes while I try to figure out this blog thing. The only difference is that I had my daughter in less than 10 hours. I feel like I’ve been giving birth to this site for almost a year now.

But you know what? Despite the tears and frustrations, Bookittyblog brings joy to my life. Just like when I held my baby in my arms for the first time. I feel complete. I’m doing what I love. And we are at that stage when we are starting to feel comfortable with each other.

Anyways, this post was to let you guys know that Bookittyblog looks different because we change to blogger. I know this change is for the best and I hope you guys enjoy.

And… I’m doing a Giveaway! There will be 3 winners! The first prize is: a signed copy of Switched by Amanda Hocking. The second prize: a copy of Immortal Beloved by Cate Tiernan and Darkness Falls (the second book in the series). The third prize: a $10 Give card to Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

Significance by Shelly Crane

Maggie is a seventeen year old girl who's had a bad year. She was smart and on track but then her mom left, her dad is depressed, she's graduating, barely, and her boyfriend of almost three years dumped her for a college football schalorship. Lately she thinks life is all about hanging on by a thread and is gripping tight with everything she has. Then she meets Caleb. She saves his life and instantly knows there's something about him that's intriguing but she is supposed to be on her way to a date with his cousin. But things change when they touch, sparks ignite. Literally. They imprint with each other and she sees their future life together flash before her eyes. She learns that not only is she his soul mate, and can feel his heartbeat in her chest, but there is a whole other world of people with gifts and abilities that she never knew existed. She herself is experiencing supernatural changes unlike anything she's ever felt before and she needs the touch of his skin to survive. Now, not only has her dad come out of his depression to be a father again, and a pain as well, but Caleb's enemies know he's imprinted and are after Maggie to stop them both from gaining their abilities and take her from him. Can Caleb save her or will they be forced to live without each other after just finding one another?

Gah! How do I put into words how much I loved this book? Significance is like a dream come true. Shelly Crane took everything I love from YA books and from all that goodness Significance was born.
Who doesn’t like a mature, not whinny and awesome heroine? Everybody does! Maggie is exactly the kind of character I love to read. And oh my Caleb! He is dreamy and so protective of Maggie but not in a weird stalky way. The way they feel about each other is so romantic that I wish imprinting was real!

It’s clear that Significance is in the paranormal genre and while I enjoyed that aspect of the book a lot, I have to say that it was the love story that made me fall in love with this book. I was emotionally in sync with Maggie and Caleb and what an amazing feeling that was.

 Dream Cast

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

Karou is a seventeen-year-old art student with a most unusual family. From his desk in a dusty, otherworldly shop, her mysterious, monstrous father sends her on errands across the globe, collecting teeth for a shadowy purpose. On one such errand, Karou encounters an angel, and soon the mysteries of her life and her family are unraveled--with consequences both beautiful and dreadful.
Warning. I'm afraid of writing this review. I don't think anything I have to say will make any justice to this book. I'll try my best.

As soon as I started reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone I felt in love with Laini Taylor's writing. She uses words in such a beautiful way, is like eating the smoothest chocolate in the world. The words just melt in your mouth and flow like a sweet river into your brain. The goodness of it all doesn't end just with her writing. The story was incredible. I don't think many authors can pull off what Taylor did with this book. She created a scary yet beautiful world without overdoing it. Last but not least, the characters. From blue hair to inhumanly beautiful Taylor's characters were so amazingly real that I found myself dreaming about them. When I reached the last page of this book I was missing them already. I highly recommend Daughter of Smoke and Bone.

Blood Red Road by Moira Young

Saba has spent her whole life in Silverlake, a dried-up wasteland ravaged by constant sandstorms. The Wrecker civilization has long been destroyed, leaving only landfills for Saba and her family to scavenge from. That's fine by her, as long as her beloved twin brother Lugh is around. But when a monster sandstorm arrives, along with four cloaked horsemen, Saba's world is shattered. Lugh is captured, and Saba embarks on an epic quest to get him back.

Suddenly thrown into the lawless, ugly reality of the world outside of desolate Silverlake, Saba is lost without Lugh to guide her. So perhaps the most surprising thing of all is what Saba learns about herself: she's a fierce fighter, an unbeatable survivor, and a cunning opponent. And she has the power to take down a corrupt society from the inside. Teamed up with a handsome daredevil named Jack and a gang of girl revolutionaries called the Free Hawks, Saba stages a showdown that will change the course of her own civilization.

I’ve been meaning to write this review for quite a while. I can’t express my thoughts into words. I’ll try, so bare with me pretty please :). I don’t like to compare books BUT to me Blood Red Road is as epic as The Hunger Games. They have nothing in common other than they are both in the dystopian genre and that both are books I will always re-read and share with everybody I know.

I will always remember Saba. I have never seen a character grow so much in a single book like her. It always takes a whole series for me to say “X character has grown so much. Wow.” In the beginning I saw Saba too dependent of her brother but oh my goodness that changed the exact moment Lugh was taken. She took control of the situation. She was in charge. And she did a great job of being a leader. She’s definitely not a follower.

All the characters were amazing but what made me fall in love with the book was the writing. It was smooth and it felt right. It was just wonderful.

Froi of the Exiles by Melina Marchetta

Three years after the curse on Lumatere was lifted, Froi has found his home Or so he believes.
Fiercely loyal to the Queen and Finnikin, Froi has been trained roughly and lovingly by the Guard sworn to protect the royal family, and has learned to control his quick temper. But when he is sent on a secretive mission to the kingdom of Charyn, nothing could have prepared him for what he finds. Here he encounters a damaged people who are not who they seem, and must unravel both the dark bonds of kinship and the mysteries of a half-mad Princess.

And in this barren and mysterious place, he will discover that there is a song sleeping in his blood, and though Froi would rather not, the time has come to listen.

Once again Melina Marchetta blew my mind away. When I heard that she was going to write the second book in the Lumatere Chronicles with Froi as the main character I was a little surprised. Froi wasn’t a very likable character in Finnikin of the Rock until the last part of the book. But if someone can take a character from zero to hero is Marchetta. And Froi is my new favorite hero.

I was fascinated with all her new characters. My favorite was Quintana. She was just WOW. Everything about her was beautifully insane. I’m talking inner beauty because Marchetta lets us know that Quintana is not that pretty. Another awesome thing about Froi of the Exiles is that it has different points of view, including several people from Lumatere. So while I knew what was going on in Charyn with Froi, I got a glimpse of what was going on in Lumatere.

Everything about Froi of the Exiles was amazing including the ending

Switched by Amanda Hocking

When Wendy Everly was six-years-old, her mother was convinced she was a monster and tried to kill her. It isn't until eleven years later that Wendy discovers her mother might have been right. With the help of Finn Holmes, Wendy finds herself in a world she never knew existed - a world both beautiful and frightening, and Wendy's not sure she wants to be a part of it.

WOW! Switched is definitely a must read. Hocking had me at the prologue. Not many books start with a shocker, but Switched did and that's what kept me wanting more. The beginning of the book is good but as I got deeper in I realized that the writing is excellent and the characters are amazing.

The plot is original and well developed. Switched did not have a dull moment. I was surprised that I enjoyed being in Wendy's head. Most of the time heroines are a little annoying but, Wendy was the total opposite. She's funny and tough. And ooh la la Finn!! He’s a breath of fresh air. I loved how he said whatever he was thinking and never sugar coated anything.

I finished Switched a few hours ago and I miss the characters already. I can't wait to read Torn!
